About this Project

Meadow Landscapes have recently secured a luxury 2-storey barn conversion in the quiet, picturesque village of Pinwall in Leicestershire. The property is situated on a working farm and involves a full restoration from the ground upwards.

The proprietor of Meadow Landscapes, James Hill, faced several challenges whilst on the project including the varying levels of the substrate in preparation for the solid insulation board installation.

Energy Stores new NHBC-approved Thermal lightweight aggregate was going to be the obvious choice to replace the solid insulation boards as it combines EPS bead coated in an innovative additive and mixed with cement to create a pourable insulation capable of filling uneven ground.  Once poured TLA 200 is suitable for light pedestrian traffic within 24 hours and provides a perfect, level base suitable for installing underfloor heating pipework.

Customer quote,

Site Manager – James Hills

This new product is going to be a game changer for us, not only is it easy to install it actually forms one complete slab of insulation with no cuts or joints which often result in heat loss.  It even flows around all of the pipework effortlessly and it creates a perfect base for underfloor heating.

This was our first opportunity to use TLA and the level of support from both Energy Store and Hills Concrete was what I’ve come to expect over the years. Knowing that the product has both NHBC approval along with a Kiwa certification was really important to our client also.
