About this Project

The £700 million Perry Barr regeneration investment scheme, will see 5000 new home further public transport infrastructure improvements along with walking and cycling routes linked to new community facilities. The project had been accelerated to accommodate the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth games.

One of the key areas of focus will include the Perry Barr rail station and the introduction of the sprint bus rapid transit network, all complimented by a high range of quality new developments in the local centre.

The pedestrian underpass was split into 12 sections to contain the high fluidity of the foam concrete and was successfully completed over 5 days, Morrisons Civil Engineering described the collaboration between both companies as exciting and memorable.

 

Morrisons Civil Engineering approached Hills Concrete for assistance with the challenging complexity of 250m3 of Foam concrete. Challenges focused around the client’s concern about working under the busy A34 carriageway out of Birmingham and the potential concrete heave pressure from filling in the pedestrian underpass beneath the carriageway, Hills concrete portfolio of products includes foam concrete, specifically for subway void fill with the added benefits of requiring minimal compaction.
